This unit investigates the idea of problem solving in the year 6 classroom. By the end of Year 6 students should be able to solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division or any combination of these processes. They should have a variety of problem-solving strategies in their repertoire, both mental and written and they should be able to use a calculator or other digital technologies to assist them. This series of lessons/ideas gives examples of these strategies and provides some fun problems for the students.
