How do you decide whether a piece of art is good or bad? Meet Pro Vice-Chancellor Design and Social Context and Vice-President at RMIT Professor Paul Gough. What questions does Paul suggest we ask ourselves about works of art, in order to discover how we value it? Find a piece of art nearby, in a book or online, and take a good look at it. Think about the two rules that Paul uses when he looks at an artwork. Does the work say something that interests you (about an idea, a colour, a material, a subject)? And does it communicate this convincingly?
