Teacher guide Sustainable Agriculture - regenerating the family farm

TLF ID M020845

This is a unit of work about sustainable farming practices in an Australian agricultural context. The unit uses a case study of a mixed farming operation in southern Victoria. It investigates the steps this farm has made to improve its long term sustainability and the benefits realised in terms of production systems and management of the land. A series of six activities provide: background information on on the Australian sheep farming industry and improvements made due to scientific research and technological innovation; background information on Yan Yan Gurt West farm and its progression towards more regenerative farming; and research tasks that encourage students to evaluate other examples of sustainable farming and identify key principles of the practice. The unit is supported by a video Low Impact Sustainable Agriculture.
