Commemorating Anzac through engaging learning

• This resource supports quality teaching and learning through specific curriculum learning tasks with which to engage students. First World War background information is provided to support teachers’ capacity in developing their students’ engagement with commemorating the Centenary of Anzac. The syllabus-related learning activities support the engagement of all students in commemorating the Centenary of Anzac. The concepts of challenge, change, caring, community and commemoration provide a focus to organise learning, class and student discussions and further investigations. Students are engaged in inquiry learning that is relevant and develops deep understanding of big ideas. The resource includes teaching and learning opportunities for primary students in English, History, Geography, Science, Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama. Secondary subjects supported are English, History, Geography, Science, Visual Arts and Languages. For each subject, teaching and learning descriptions are provided, learning concepts expanded, and syllabus outcomes and content listed. Teachers can use the resource in a variety of ways to suit the local context and learning needs of their students, as well as to enhance whole school and community interactions and events.
