This is a learning sequence exploring how animals and plants survive the harsh Antarctic climate. A guided research template supports students to organise information from the Australian Antarctic Division website on the different physical, physiological and behavioural adaptations of the animals and plants in the region. Students then use climate data from Mawson station to make connections between Antarctica’s climate and animal migratory patterns. Classroom Antarctica is a collection of teaching and learning activities for Years 3 to 8 that provides a range of short investigations on topics aligned to the Australian Curriculum. The activities are supported by resources sourced from the Australian Antarctic Divisions' scientific and environmental program.
