This is a rich collection of stories that focuses on the life experiences of two individuals, one of Greek heritage and one of Polish heritage, who immigrated and settled in Victoria post World War II. The resource explores how these people shared their cultural heritage and how this enriched Australian life at this time. There are three sections: Introductory information; Story Objects; and Story Education Resources. The 21 Story Objects include digital stories, images and audio recordings. The two Story Education Resources are units of work, one is titled Kinįmatográfos (for Year 10 History) and the other is titled Polish Dance (for Year 6 History).

Educational value
  • This is a highly relevant resource for The Globalising World Depth study in the year 10 History curriculum. It has particular relevance for the content descriptions that refer to popular culture and migration experiences from 1945. A number of the Story Objects in the resource are highly relevant including: Kinimatografos ; Midnight at the Movies; Greek Cinema Tickets and all of the images advertising movies playing at the cinema. The resource titled Kinimatografos in the Story Education Resources section is also very useful.
  • The resource is also highly relevant for the year 6 History curriculum. It is particularly relevant for the content descriptions that refer to: the stories of groups of people who migrated to Australia; and the contribution of individuals and groups of migrants to the development of Australian society. A number of Story Objects are highly relevant including: Dance to Remember, The Polish Community of Ardeer Building their Community Hall and all of the images of polish dancers performing in traditional costume. The resource titled Polish Dance in the Story Education Resources section is also very useful.
  • The resource is also relevant for the Changing nations depth study in the year 8 Geography curriculum, in particular the content description that refers to the reasons for and effects of international migration in Australia. A number of Story Objects are useful including: The Polish Community of Ardeer Building their Community Hall; Dance to Remember and the of the images of Polish dancers performing.
