This is a short clip about a large business producing vegetables in Stanthorpe, Queensland for local and international markets. In this clip, a business manager describes the size of the business in terms of number of employees and physical area. It also shows three employees, a staff trainer, an agronomist and a boiler maker, describing their highly varied jobs within the business including their tasks, positive aspects of their job, and future aspirations and opportunities for themselves. This Agrifoods clip includes footage of employees working in the field, in processing sheds and in workshops.

  • This resource is valuable for Economics and Business curriculum due to its relevance to content descriptions in years 6 and 7. In year 6 it is valuable for learning about a business in the horticulture industry and the vegetables they are producing for markets in Australia and overseas. In year 7 it is valuable for exploring types of work, including jobs not often associated with horticulture production, and the contribution the work makes to individuals.
  • This resource is of value for content descriptions in years 9 and 10 of the Work Studies curriculum. In this clip, three employees describe their occupations and some skills they use in fulfilling their jobs, which is valuable in year 9 for learning about and exploring different occupations in a real-life setting. In year 10 it is relevant for exploring how learning while employed is important for future work and training opportunities and aspirations as the employees in the clip reflect on potential pathways and further study options they could pursue in the future.
