This is a rich collection of digital stories about people who have immigrated to Victoria. The resource is presented in three sections: Introductory information; Story Objects; and Story Education Resources. There are 21 Story Objects that include images, videos, links, information, interviews and transcripts. There are two Story Education Resources that link to learning activities, worksheets, resources and additional digital stories.

Educational value
  • This is a highly useful resource for the Globalising world depth study in the year 10 History curriculum. It relates to at least five content descriptions in this study and is particularly relevant for the content descriptions that refer to: the impact of ONE world event on Australia, such as war refugees; and the waves of post-World War II migration to Australia. A number of Story Objects are relevant here including: The story of an immigrant filmmaker; The Shoemaker and To Sevek.
  • The resource is also relevant for the content descriptions that refer the contribution of migration to Australia’s changing identity as a nation. A number of Story Objects are relevant here including: Australia: per forza e per amore; Next generation; and Yeni Hayat = New life.
  • The resource is also highly relevant for the Changing nations depth study in the year 8 Geography curriculum. It is relevant for the content description that refers to the reasons for and effects of international migration in Australia.  A number of Story Objects are relevant here including: Journey home, Leaving Tropeoulhos; The Shoemaker and Dad, I made it. The ACMI Generator – Immigration Stories Resource at the bottom of the webpage also has some relevant digital stories about the immigrant experience in Australia.
