This education pack is an International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) resource designed to build students' understanding about the special place domestic cats and dogs have in people's lives. The pack consists of a teaching guide, a student magazine and six student worksheets focusing on topics such as the physical characteristics and natural behaviours of cats and dogs, and the responsibilities in caring for cats and dogs. The resource contains links to an online video library and further teaching guides.

It is particularly useful for the year 3 Knowledge and Understanding content description where students identify facts that support their point of view on issues that affect themselves and society. It also has relevance to the Civics and Citizenship Skills strand in year 4 that explores the purpose and services that local government provides to the community.
