Educational value
  • This is a useful resource for the Biomes and food security study in the year 9 geography curriculum. It is particularly relevant for the content description referring to the capacity of the world's environments to sustainably feed future populations. The Interventions section of the resource is useful here, providing information about the USA's federal food programs and the community food security movement. The household food security survey in the Student handouts section is also relevant, providing students with a picture of the actual state of US food security in 2010.
