Assessment resource Year 10 history assessment - Rights and freedoms in Australia

This is an assessment package that uses the Year 10 Australian Curriculum history achievement standard to gather evidence about how well students have demonstrated what they know, what they understand and what they can do for the depth study 'Rights and Freedoms (1945 – present)'. Students plan and deliver a spoken presentation about a civil rights event that is significant to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples. The package comprises teacher guidelines, student booklet, assessment resources and task-specific standards (rubric, matrix, continua).

  • This resource is of significant value because of its relevance to content descriptions in the depth study 'Rights and freedoms' in the Year 10 history curriculum. Students complete a case study on the significance of a civil rights event for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples. They develop a hypothesis about the significance of the event, develop a referenced script and deliver a spoken or signed presentation.
