TLF ID M014095

This is a web resource that provides a database of agri-environmental indicators for environmental performance of agriculture in OECD countries between 1990 and 2008. The data table can be customised, with options to view by country or by theme: land, energy, air, nutrients, soil, biodiversity, pesticides, water, farm management or socioeconomic factors. Data subsets can be displayed as a bar chart, line graph or scatter plot. The resource, which is part of the Organisation for Economic and Co-operative Development (OECD) website, sets out key points related to the environmental performance of agriculture and provides links to relevant resources.

Educational value
  • This is a useful resource that supports the mathematics curriculum for years 9 and 10, particularly the content descriptions about identifying everyday questions and issues involving at least one numerical and at least one categorical variable, and collecting data from secondary sources; and investigating and describing bivariate numerical data where the independent variable is time. It might also be useful for the content description referring to evaluating statistical reports in the media and other places by linking claims to displays, statistics and representative data.
  • This is a useful resource for Geographical Knowledge and Understanding, particularly for the content descriptions in the year 9 Biomes and food security unit of study that refer to the environmental, economic and technological factors that influence crop yields in Australia and across the world; and the capacity of the world's environments to sustainably feed the projected future population to achieve food security. This resource would also be useful for the content description in year 9 Geographical Inquiry and Skills referring to evaluating multivariable data and other geographical information.
  • This resource supports the Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia cross-curriculum priority, with data for agri-environmental indicators provided for Japan and Korea. It also supports the sustainability cross-curriculum priority.
  • This resource supports the numeracy and intercultural understanding general capabilities.
