This is a four-page PDF Activity guide for RAP partners that provides a range of ideas for participating in National Reconciliation Week. It provides an overview of the importance of reconciliation and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, definitions and examples of both Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country offerings, and five activity proposals to get involved in National Reconciliation Week. These include ideas for holding a morning tea, creating a recognition wall and taking a cultural walking tour.

  • This is a valuable teacher resource for preparing activities to support the year 3 history content description exploring the Australian celebration of National Reconciliation Week, held from 27 May to 3 June, commemorating the anniversaries of the successful 1967 referendum and the Mabo decision of 1992. Especially valuable are the examples of the Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country that may be used for assemblies, meetings and other events. The activities section provides a range of ideas for participation and includes an example of a speech that may be modified for an event such as a morning tea.
