This is an information sheet that introduces five fast facts relating to the National Aborigines and Islanders day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) week, an annual celebration of the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Tracing back to the Aboriginal rights movement of 1938, NAIDOC celebrations enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other Australians to come together and acknowledge the local and national achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians and promote reconciliation and diversity. This page provides a link to the NAIDOC website and includes a list of ways all Australians can get involved in the celebrations. The content is also downloadable as a PDF file.
