Fraser was appointed caretaker prime minister following the dismissal of the Whitlam Labor government on 11 November 1975. A month later he was elected prime minister and pursued a platform of reducing expenditure while supporting an increase in defence spending. He also looked to continue relations with countries in the East and South-East Asian region while working on Australian immigration programs.
Fraser's educational resource page offers a variety of archival material such as letters, parliamentary documents, photographs and links to National Archives of Australia websites such as 'Australia's Prime Ministers'.
