What do you feel like when the weather is hot and dry?

Discover what happens to the land during dry weather.

Look at how the landscape changes at different times of the year.

Things to think about

  1. 1.Can you remember what it feels like in really dry weather? Predict what would happen to the land around you if it doesn't get much rain. What can happen if we don't get much rain for a long time?
  2. 2.Watch the changes in the land as the weather stays dry. What happens to the landscape (the water, soil, trees and land)? Why do some parts of the landscape stay green in dry weather?
  3. 3.Draw a picture of a landscape to show how it changes over time if it doesn't rain.
  4. 4.Talk to a family friend or relative who grows plants or crops or cares for animals. Find out how important weather is to what they do. Draw and write about how they deal with dry weather. Take a photograph of the landscape around you. Every month take a new photograph of the same area. Observe how the landscape changes.
