YEARS:  F–2

Discover some different ways that people celebrate achievements.

This clip takes you to two big celebrations: a street parade and a graduation.

Find out what it takes to achieve things worth celebrating.

Learn some ways that you can help others achieve.

Things to think about

  1. 1.Can you remember doing something that took a long time to learn? Did you have to practise many times before you could do it? These are achievements. How do you feel when you achieve something?
  2. 2.What achievement is the street parade celebrating? What things do you see happening? What are the children doing to support the cricket players? How does this help the players? What happens at graduation for police cadets? What are some other times you hear the national anthem played. Why do people take photos at celebrations?
  3. 3.Think about a celebration that you have been part of. What was being celebrated? What happened at the celebration? How did you feel? Draw a picture showing what happened and who was there. What are some important things that you have celebrated with family or friends? Have you been to any bigger celebrations at your school or in the local area?
  4. 4.Talk to your family and friends about the things you celebrate together. Make a list of all the celebrations in your life. Look at photos or other keepsakes that might help you remember them. Write or record a story about one celebration in your life. Explain what happened and how you felt. Draw some pictures to help tell the story.
