Imagine a place where it rains most of the time.

What sort of creatures might live there?

This clip shows a very wet place where the animals need lots of water to survive.

Things to think about

  1. 1.Think about what different animals do when it rains. What animals do you see taking shelter from the rain? What animals only come out when it rains? Why do you think this is? How do you care for your pets when it rains?
  2. 2.What names do we give to the two very different places (habitats) shown in the start of the clip? Which animals in the clip need lots of rain to survive? Do you see any animals in the clip that have hair or fur? What are they doing when it's raining?
  3. 3.What if no rain fell for a long time? How might such changes in the weather affect the animals in the clip? How might they change their behaviour (what they do)? Why might the ducks be especially active in the rain? Hint: think about the other animals that come out when it rains.
  4. 4.Take a walk in a wetland, forest, park or garden when it's raining. What animals do you see or hear? Do these animals need lots of rain to survive? Find out what these animals do when it doesn't rain for a long time. What changes could we make to our parks and gardens to meet the needs of these animals?
