Things to think about

  1. 1.Where do apples come from? How do they get into the shops so you can buy them? What type of apples do you like best? How do you like to eat apples? What different foods do you know that are made from apples?
  2. 2.Notice how many different machines help get the apples from the trees into shops. How do the apple farmers and sellers take care that the apples don't get bruised or damaged? What are the steps in making juice from the apples?
  3. 3.How does the apple juice change when it is made into apple cider? How does the apple cider change when it is made into vinegar? What does Claudia have to know about apples to make cider and vinegar?
  4. 4.Ask an adult to help you cook some apples. How does the apple change when it cooks? Make a poster or slide show with pictures and words to show the steps you followed. What questions could you ask about the different types of apples? Visit a fruit shop to find out how they are the same and different.
