This is a teacher resource about a project to provide professional learning to teachers on the YuMi Deadly Maths program, designed to improve mathematics learning for F-9 students in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and low-socio-economic status schools. A method section describes key teaching strategies including pedagogy based on a Reality-Abstraction-Mathematics-Reflection (RAMR) cycle which uses students' everyday lives, interests or local culture as a starting point for instruction. The outcomes described include improved student attendance, engagement, behaviour, and achievement in mathematics as well as increased classroom discussion.   • This resource may be useful in supporting the Mathematics learning area. It provides extensive information about the YDM program which can fit into schools' existing mathematics programs and describes useful teaching strategies including pedagogy based on the Reality-Abstraction-Mathematics-Reflection (RAMR) cycle, which encourages learning that uses all the senses and starts with kinaesthetic activity.
