Educational details

Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource for schools with high proportions of beginning teachers on staff who are also seeking an effective way of improving students' NAPLAN literacy results and their attainment of the English achievement standards from Foundation to year 10. The resource describes the college's induction program in detail, pointing out its record of retaining between 80 to 90 per cent of beginning teachers. This level of success makes the resource particularly useful in relation to the Developing self and others professional practice described in the Australian Professional Standard for Principals.
  • The resource is of value for F-10 schools intent on developing and maintaining an integrated literacy approach across the school in all learning areas as well as effectively implementing content descriptions in the Creating texts substrand of the English curriculum in the primary years. The induction and literacy strategies set out in the resource are also of value in maximising student progress through the levels set out in the Literacy general capability in relation to composing learning area texts.
