This module, The modern world and Australia – Australia's involvement in recent conflict, explores Australia's involvement in contemporary conflict and peacekeeping missions, the role of service personnel through time and stories of contemporary service personnel who are competing in the Invictus Games Sydney 2018. Educational value
  • This resource is designed to be integrated into the Stage 5 History course. The program sustains a direct reference to the Invictus Games and explores the core concepts of resilience, inclusivity and service. Students examine a range of global conflicts that have occurred post WWII with a particular focus on the nature of the conflict and how it has changed throughout the 20th century. Students learn about the continuing efforts of ADF personnel in working towards peace and security in the modern world.
  • Additionally, students look at changing societal values and perspectives towards personnel. This resource was designed to foster student’s literacy skills, and a range of historical competencies. It includes activities that challenge students to respond to and compose sophisticated and sustained texts, refer to primary and secondary source material and contemplate key questions relating to civics and citizenship.
