In this learning sequence students will explore what’s happening in the Asian region in terms of their interests and possible career goals. Students will investigate case studies and personal stories of Australian and Asian professional connections and explore how schools can best prepare students for a successful career engaged in working across cultures

Educational value
  • This learning sequence is a valuable resource supporting Year 10 Work Studies content that has a focus on the implications for relationships are cross-cultural. Students examine the work place in Australia as well as examples of Australians working in the Asia region.
  • The whole scope of the learning sequence is grounded in the Asia and Australia's engagement with Asia cross-curriculum priority, particularly the organising idea that interrelationships between humans and the diverse environments in Asia shape the region and have global implications, that the peoples and countries of Asia have contributed and continue to contribute to world history and human endeavour and Australians play a significant role in social, cultural, political and economic developments in the Asia region.
  • The learning sequence contributes to students developing, information and communication technology, critical and creative and intercultural understanding general capabilities as they explore digital sources to understand cross cultural behaviours required when doing business with the Asia region.
