Video Digital Careers: Medical technologies

TLF ID M018892

Dr Thomas Oxley is Laboratory Head of Melbourne Bionics, Department of Medicine, University of Melbourne. His works sounds like something out of a science fiction movie. His team are working to develop a bionic spinal cord that would decode the brain activity of stroke and paralysed spinal cord patients so they can use their minds to control robotic limbs. Dr Oxley's team are also developing a model for a brain machine interface that can record and stimulate brain activity. This video was produced to coincide with the 2014 Hour of Code event organised by code.org .
