Educational value
  • This is a valuable resource for the upper primary and lower secondary geography curriculum. It is particularly relevant for the year 5 content description referring to the influence of people, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, on the environmental characteristics of Australian places. The Cultural values section of the detailed information pages for each of the reserves is particularly useful here as it describes some of the cultural significance and values of the reserve.
  • This resource is also relevant for the year 8 content description about the importance of environments and the need to protect them, including significant geomorphic landscapes. The sections What this reserve protects and What we're doing on the property are relevant here. The protected animals, plants and vegetation communities of each of the reserves are described and pictured, and the projects and work being done to ensure the reserve continues to be protected are described.
