  • This is a valuable resource for the Visual Arts curriculum for the lower to middle secondary years. It is relevant to content descriptions in both the Making and Responding strands that emphasise exploring and experimenting, shaping artworks and practising skills and techniques. It is also relevant to using skills to respond to others' artworks as well as considering the broader contexts of artworks, such as the social and cultural context, and the role of the artist and audience. Piccinini's works explore contemporary issues through the presentation of unique forms and images, such as the creation of hybrid beings.
  • This resource has pedagogical value for the Visual Arts curriculum. The activities can be used individually or as a series. The works challenge the audience to think about contemporary issues such as the ethics and possibilities of biodiversity and biotechnology. Each of the images of Piccinini's artworks is accompanied by a series of scaffolded questions or activities to build an understanding of the artist, her artworks and the issues or themes she presents through her works.
