This planning resource for Year 1 is for the topic of Number sequence. Students work towards being able to recognise, represent and order numbers up to 120. They use partitioning and various counting processes to make sense of and represent numbers in different ways.
Students develop an understanding of the proportion and relationships between fractions. They represent fractions using linear models and symbols and form a generalisation about fractions equivalent to one whole.
This game, played in pairs with a of dominoes, challenges students to create fractions and compare their values. The player with the higher value fraction wins each round and the associated domino. The game is played until one player owns all the dominoes.
Students investigate the relative position of numbers by modelling fractional numbers between whole numbers. They represent linear models of fractions along number lines and use these models to count and solve simple fraction addition problems.
