Upskilling Kimberley Aboriginal Teaching Assistants

Abstract

This strategy provides pathways for Aboriginal Teaching Assistants (ATAs) in Kimberley Catholic schools to undertake study towards gaining formal teaching qualifications. Successful completion of further study and training will improve the knowledge, skills and competencies of the ATAs, and allow the Catholic sector to place qualified ATAs in remote schools in the Kimberley region.

This strategy has developed a systematic approach to offering training to ATAs in schools. The strategy aims to train ATAs to work more effectively with students, thus supporting a positive teaching and learning environment in the future.
