The late 1960s was a period of great social upheaval with many young Australians unhappy with the treatment of Indigenous Australians and with Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War.

How effective is Thomas Keneally's parallel between the treatment of Indigenous Australians in the early 1900s and the 1960s, and the Boer War and the Vietnam War to show the disenchantment of many Australians?
